Hakim is an orphan who is living on the streets for already two years. Despite his status he's managing quite well but still he wants something more. He desires to be wealthy and successful like children from rich families or tourist from well-off hotels he sees every day. When he overhear a story about a wise one which can give him the knowledge how to fulfill his dreams he immediately start the journey.

On his journey he meets many people and each gives him a piece of wisdom. He learns that to be happy he needs to realize what he want and then take action to get it. He discovers that it is important to search for who he really is and that he is someone behind all the roles he is playing in his life. To reach this goal he must follow his heart and search within himself. He is advised to pursue mysterious and ambitious and should not exchange it to practical and pragmatic. Hakim finds that he is part of one universal stream and is one with everything and everybody. To fulfill his dreams he must plant the seed of his desire and trust in its growth. The ways of the Universe do not involve hard work but to be truly happy is to give your unique talent to others.

170 pages is a long journey for Hakim. But it is a journey full of joy and fulfillment of own desires. It is the journey of self-awakening.

The book contains big wisdom and my humble abridgement can not more then inspire to read the book. I've read it twice and the second time I discovered more then during the first reading.

Já ji četl dvakrát a pokaždé objevil víc než předtím.

Every book about self growth is just a step on our journey. Child of the Dawn however is very motivating a readable story which in a simple way reveals how to make all our dreams true.

Gratitude
Vděčnost

I've just read the book by David Gemmell in which the main character used to kill for money but then he received a task which gave him a chance to do something worthy. The hero is finding that while he was staying on the dark side everything worked well and now this new task brings him only pain, suffering and he got little help. He is complaining that when he is helping the forces of good these forces just makes the task more difficult instead of giving any help.

The main character of the book is however wrong. He did not acknowledge that one of his enemies saved him when he was captured in nomad camp. He comes to the ferry place just in the time he needed to run away from creatures which can not swim. He meets a monster with healing skills when he needs to be healed. He has a monk on his side who shelter him from evil powers. Despite all of this he sees only that his task is difficult and that his enemies has all the trumps in their hands.

It's the same with many of us that we consider the good state of things as automatic while when something went wrong then we focus all our attention to the problem and we start to complain. How many times did we appreciate that we're healthy when we really were? But when an illness came we immediately gave all our thought to it. A long time after we already cured we still searched for the tracks of illness trying to prove that we're really healthy.

The life is like a seesaw. Sometimes it offers us advices wrapped in unpleasant situations. Another time it gives pure delight. Without cold we can hardly appreciate heat, without fear we can not appreciate ease.

Život je jako houpačka. Někdy nám nabízí poučení v balení, které není tolik příjemné. Jindy nám dává jenom potěšení. Bez zimy bychom si necenili tepla, bez strachu bychom si necenili pohody.

If we expres a bit of gratitude for the good we have, we start to realise how much good there actually is. So try for once not to nourish our little complaints and focus on the good we have. On the food we have each day on the table. On health, the possibility to move, enough money for a holiday. On the sunshine and flowers which smell sweet. Focus on those who loves us and that we can give love to someone. Just feel grateful for a while and enjoy the feeling. Then you can start complain again and chose which of the feeling you prefer.
